Is google really making us stupid?

Google is the top search engine and ,as I see it, only makes us lazy and not stupid. We all heard our parents or teachers talking about how much work it was to do research and the pride they felt when they were complete with it and had their finished result. Now, all we have to do for research is go on google and type in what we are looking for. Yes, one can say that you have to find the correct link that would work with your project but in less than 10 minutes, you have what you are looking for. I have had teachers in the past specifically say "you can only use 3 Internet source. The rest have to be from a written print." These teachers were trying to keep alive the hard work that goes into research; the looking through books to see if one of the thousands has a little passage of something that would help you. Don't get me wrong, I do realize that at some points in time, people do have to get down and dirty and go to the library and find these books but in the big scheme of things, our society today just types and click when they are trying to find something. This laziness is what makes us skim pages, quickly finding the main point of what is being read. Stupidity is not caused by google (or other search engines) but laziness is.
