I don't necessarily think that Google is making us stupid. Like many of my classmates' comments I think that it is instead making us lazy and is certainly making us think in a different way. I would like to point out, however, that google is not the only culprit in this degeneration of a drive to work. As a former journalism major I've spent a lot of time, both with friends and in classes, discussing the state of the journalism world today. Seeing that I want to be a print journalist one of the biggest issues I have with the current state of the media is that so few people are willing to sit down and read a newspaper because they can so easily get their news on the television. As technology improves and its prevalence in daily life increases the means with which information can be transmitted are increasing exponentially, therefore creating a lack of desire to go out and find the information ourselves.
So again, I do not think that Google is making us stupid, but it is making us lazy. I think that it is a serious problem that journalists are taught with increasing fervor that one must include every extremely important bit of information about an article into the first few grafs, if not the first few sentences. The degeneration of our work-drives and attention spans, myself included, is something that truly concerns me about the future of our country and frankly our world as a whole.

I like how you said that Google is making us lazy not stupid. I never think about it that way but I definitely agree with that statement. It's not as if we don't have the mental capacity to figure information out without Google's assistance it's just that we don't care to because we know how conveniently quicker Google is.
