Google=Dumber Society?
Google; what an invention it is. A simple website to solve all our problems. Or does it actually create them? It's a complicated topic; can Google make us dumber? I say no. There is so much information today in our society, that we as a generation can not be expected to know all of it off the top of our heads. That is were Google comes in and saves the day. If I want to know who the actor in Mean Girls was, because I couldn't remember what her name was, should I be considered dumb because I had to look it up on Google? I don't think so. Yet, at the same time, I do believe that if we have to use Google for every little thing that we need looked up, then we can be considered lazy. Not dumb, but lazy. In all honesty, we are a lazy generation, and Google helps us with that. Saying that Google is making us dumb is incorrect. We still have to know the necessary facts of life off the top of our head, which we learn in school and which Google does help us to remember from time to time.

I agree that Google does not equal a dumber society. If you can't remember a trivial fact, then yes, go to google and look it up. What I believe is that google inhibits us in research. Yes, one can find many things on google that are updated on whatever topic is being researched but if one just took the time to step away from google and look at an "outdated book" a lot of information can be found. People use google as a shortcut and I think that it should not be used that way for major projects. Yes, online sources are great to use but printed sources are still just as good. It is a shame that they don't get looked at often.
